When considering the purchase of a ShelterLogic tension fabric structure (or any other brand of tensioned-fabric building) there are a number of factors to be considered:

Is a building permit required?
This is a question that should be addressed to your local building official(s) for clarification.
What are your local wind and snow load requirements?
If a building permit is required, it should be assumed that our structure must conform to local wind and snow load requirements. While we can be of some general assistance, it is the purchaser’s responsibility to determine exactly what loads must be met.
Be sure to confirm with your local building official that there are no “hidden” requirements – in our home state of Connecticut there is a published wind and snow load for each city and town plus a State-wide mandate of a 30 lbs/sq ft “flat roof” snow load. The dynamics of this mandate results in a minimum ground snow load of 50 lbs/sq ft for the entire state. At last count there were 17 states that have “flat roof” minimums.
Seismic considerations? In certain earthquake prone areas the building must meet specific criteria.
Will stamped drawings be required?
Some building officials may require that drawings you receive bear the stamp or seal of a state-certified structural engineer. These can be provided in most cases but there is an extra charge.
Does your town have a maximum height limitation?
Some municipalities have a regulation limiting the maximum height of any and all outbuildings.
Do you plan on making some form of concrete foundation?
A concrete foundation is required to maintain stated wind and snow loads. If this is not possible your ShelterLogic sales consultant will assist in determining alternative anchoring options.
Do you have unusual framing requirements?
We can fabricate additional framing to accommodate such additions as windows, exhaust fans, special doors and side access(es).
What are your clearance requirements?
Prior to contacting a ShelterLogic sales consultant it would be helpful to have firm measurements of the clearance requirements that are needed. This will allow your consultant to provide an immediate quotation.
