GrowIT® Greenhouse-in-a-Box 6 x 8 x 6 ft. 6 in. is rated 2.8 out of 5 by 24.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for my tomatoes! We are going to our 3rd winter with this greenhouse and are very pleased with it. Took us quite a bit longer to erect than stated. We erected permanently by bolting to metal t posts driven into ground every other leg. We have extremely high winds to 80mph, sometimes more and didn't want it to blow away! Noting that literature says to take down in winter, we are pleased at the durability having weathered 2 whole years in the High Desert Outback of Oregon. Cover still in great shape. Highly recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect! This is our second ShelterLogic greenhouse. Our first one has been through 2 full seasons and the shell is beginning to show wear. We will order a replacement for it at the end of this season. We chose this style of greenhouse over building one from scratch for several reasons, not the least of which was assembly time. We are glad we did. Our first was a 10 x 20 of the same design. They have both been easy and intuitive to assemble, quick to arrive, and quite serviceable in various seasons. The price made it possible for us to get started at least a year earlier than we otherwise would have. We did not rely on anchors that came with the greenhouse. We poured concrete footers and bolted our frame to eyelets. We live in a high wind area, which was one of the reasons we felt the need for a greenhouse. The zip vents are great, though this year we added a gable fan which we hung from the rafters inside. We chose a wider, longer greenhouse for our 2nd because we wanted to experiment with permaculture. We built a perimeter raised bed 29" high and mounted the greenhouse on it. We highly recommend ShelterLogic products, as they are of reliable quality, have standardized replaceable parts, good customer service, and extremely affordable, compared to conventional hard-sided styles.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Greenhouse This is a great greenhouse. We built a wooden frame, leveled the ground filled it with sand and put paving stones down for a floor. When we assembled the greenhouse we screwed the tubes to the wooden frame. The greenhouse has withstood winds of 40,50 mph with out a single problem. It has excellent cross ventilation and our plants have been protected from the cold down to the low teens with just a small heater.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No more veggies for the deer Great little greenhouse - easy to put up. looks nice in the yard and is pleasant to work in. Unless the deer learn to low crawl or unzip the door looks like we might get more peppers, tomatoes and herbs than they will for a change. Only thing that could make it better would be a zipper window on each side.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Held up to WY winds I've had the 10x10x8 greenhouse in a bag for 3 seasons now with no problems. It's not uncommon to have 50+ mph winds here in Wyoming. This year the zipper ripped out on both sides of the door. Gonna reorder the cover as the frame is still in excellent condition. With the high winds I went out and bought better ground anchors cause I didn't have enough confidence the ones that came with would handle the winds here.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Go bigger.... I bought this unit 6 years ago and it has stood up fairly well. Sloughed off a 14" snowfall with aplomb the first season.... ...but a few caveats. As with storage buildings, greenhouses - and maybe yachts - buy larger. Mine is used as a 'temporary' greenhouse and overflow from the regular greenhouse for plants that just need to be kept from freezing. Consider the height.... Secondly, I wish ShelterLogic offered replacements for single pieces. Though all parts/panels are labeled with individual part numbers, it is not possible to buy just one. The cost for full fabric replacement is almost equal to the full kit price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great way to get a greenhouse without spending a l I needed a way to protect my vegetable garden from cold temps and hail. I didn't have time to find and build a permanent greenhouse and didn't have a lot of money to spend. The Greenhouse in a Box was the answer. It's sturdy enough to be a permanent greenhouse (although I needed to use extra anchors because it's very windy where I live). The only issue I had was the instructions. I don't like pictures-only instructions. In several cases it took a long time to figure out what to do. In addition, the estimate of two people and two hours for assembly is way off. It took two pretty handy people about 6 hours to put it together. My plants are very happy now.

Q&A

How much percentage of sunlight passes through the translucent cover and how much is reflected? Bonus points if you can give me the uv light pass through/reflected percent as well

Asked by: Patrick Bateman
I had this same question. After purchasing this small green house a place to start seedlings I also did some light readings to compare between outside and inside. On a sunny day in late summer we registered a daily light integral of 30+ And intensity at noon of 1500+ outside our green house at ground level. On the same day for the same 24 hour monitoring we found inside the green house registered  in the 20-29 DLI range and peak intensity at noon was 1000-1499 range taken at table height in the greenhouse. While I can't give you a more accurate percentage of light loss, I think this does give you an idea. Overall the light quality stayed within the good to excellent range for sun loving plants. As long as your green house placement is in full sun, your plants should be happy with the amount of diffused light.  Besides starting seedlings for transplant we have also done direct seeding and grown tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, cabbage, cucumbers, Swiss chard, beets and Kale inside the greenhouse.

Can this stay up all winter, or is it better to remove the covers and put them back on in the spring? It would be hard to set up in the spring snow, so I would like to leave it up if possible.

Asked by: dshazelton
Hello, Thank you for your question. This greenhouse can be left up all year however we do not recommend leaving plants inside of it during the colder months. It is important to remove snow accumulation from the roof to avoid any damage. Thank you
