FAQs

Depending on whether you purchase a Heavy Duty 14.5 oz. PVC fabric cover, or the Ultra Duty 21.5 oz. fabric cover with your ShelterTech building, you’ll be getting a tough made cover that should last you season after season. However, the life of your fabric is affected by application, location and the physical elements the shelter is exposed to and as a result, the life expectancy of your cover will depend upon these factors. You can refer to our care sheet for information about how to maintain and care for your cover.

Absolutely. As all ShelterTech buildings are made to order, one of the advantages is that you can in fact order additional parts to extend the length of your existing building. To place an order to extend your current ShelterTech building, please contact our Customer Service department online or call us at 1-800-423-1727.

This sometimes occurs in different climates, temperatures, etc.  You can purchase a vent kit that can be an easy add-on to your existing building, and will help with air flow and decreasing the building’s level of condensation.

In most cases, these are not holes.  The dying process of the fabric can cause variations in color and does not impact the durability of your cover.

All ShelterTech buildings are tested to withstand wind and tough weather conditions. Each of these buildings is certified with a wind rating. However, this rating depends upon regular maintenance of and proper anchoring of your ShelterTech. Anchoring the shelter securely is critical to wind resistance.  If extremely high winds or storms are predicted the structure can be dismantled and stored, or the cover removed. Get more information on the wind and snow ratings of our shelters.

All ShelterTech buildings are tested to withstand snow and tough weather conditions. Each ShelterTech building is certified with a snow rating. Although these buildings can take a certain amount of snow accumulation, it is still important to properly anchor your structure, frequently check the building for regular maintenance (as listed here in our care section), and practice snow removal particularly during large periods of accumulation. Proper anchoring of your structure minimizes the impact from snow.  Keeping snow off the roof area is strongly recommended.

Immediately remove any accumulated snow or ice from the roof structure with a broom, mop or soft-sided instrument.  Use extreme caution when removing snow from the cover-always remove from outside the structure.  DO NOT use hard-edged tools or instruments like rakes or shovels since this could result in punctures to the cover. When removing snow, remove the snow alternating to each side of the shelter.  Remove a 4 ft. section of snow from one side then from the other side, continuing down the length of the building. For more information on snow removal, please refer to your manual or visit the maintenance section of our website.
