Surviving Hurricane Sandy

In the wake of Hurricane Sandy, the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum suffered major damage with the loss of main electrical transformers and backup generators, which caused the Space Shuttle pavilion on the flight deck to deflate and left the museum closed for six weeks. The ShelterLogic 45 ft. x 60 ft. x 23 ft. truss building on the museum’s flight deck survived this horrific storm with no damage against wind gusts of 89 mph, according to the National Weather Service.
